In the words of Nelson Mandella, “It always seems impossible until it is done.” To bear out this statement, John C. Maxwell said, “The only guarantee for failure is to stop trying.” This is the recapitulation of the case of the recent lifting of the ban, long placed on STUDENTS’ UNION GOVERNMENT activities in Yaba College of Science and Technology.
Though an administrative derogation of the students constitutionally guaranteed fundamental human right of FREEDOM OF ASSOCIATION, the student union activities in this prestigious citadel of learning was unfortunately interdicted with hibernation some years ago by the school management.
Unlike some unfortunate bad eggs who call themselves leaders in the student wing of this nation, the immediate past Chairman of NANS JCC LAGOS, Busari Omoboriowo Abdulqowwi, driven primarily by the passion to serve from inception and never for self-aggrandizement, swung into action forthwith. As an intelligent leader, he made viral consultations which lead to several official meetings of appeals and concessions. However, as the process of building is customarily slower and painstaking than destroying, his administration period elapsed without overt result on this course, nevertheless proper foundation were laid and considerably consequential successes were recorded. It was a slow work but they never walked backwards – ABRAHAM LINCOLN
As the saying goes “a successful leader without a successful successor is a successful failure.” Applying this as his watchword, Comr. Busari Abduquwwiy Omoboriowo successfully supported the current Chairman of NANS JCC LAGOS Comr Olalere Samuel Moshood owoseni p.k.a SAMGRIN in the elections and the later left no stone unturned to consolidate on the effort of his predecessor towards revivifying STUDENT UNION activities in YABATECH.
Today we a glad and proud to proclaim that these efforts has now yielded the envisioned result as we hereby publish that THE BAN ON YABATECH SUG HAS NOW BEEN OFFICIALLY LIFTED at such election to usher-in a new executive to steer the wheel of YABATECH revamped student union government is billed to hold anytime soon. Success is not final, failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that counts.– Winston Churchill
Foremost, we only give all praises to Almighty God who deserves all the glory in achieving this our Landmark feat. Second on the list of appreciation is the current substantive RECTOR of YABATECH in the person of Engr Obafemi Owoseni and his vibrant management team who accepted, tolerated and interlocuted with us as fathers to children and still granted our will without unrealistic condition(s) and standing by his words to reinstate the stale union. Our last straw in vote of thanks goes to immediate past QOWIY LED Administration of NANS JCC Lagos who portrayed their progressive and intellectual sagacity in leadership prowess by setting the ball rolling, planting and nuturing the seed which we, SAMGRIN LED ADMINISTRATION now nursed and harvested.
Permit us to use this avenue to confidently tell the management and students of YABATECH that the current leadership of NANS JCC LAGOS under the leadership Comrade Olalere Samuel Moshood owoseni p.k.a SAMGRIN promises to ensure a free, fair, non-controversial and credible polls pre, ante and post the upcoming YABATECH SUG ELECTION. Also we herewith endare the student leaders who will emerge into the various elected offices from the election toll the line of Christ in all their administrative endeavors while in office to avert similar future ban on the union’s activities.
With this success proudly archived in our wardrope, we are onto the next(UNILAG) with full force of all resources at our disposal to fire from all cylinders. UNILAG SUG has for years now been forced into similar state of moribundity. We have, since inception into office set the ball rolling in the pipeline and we strongly believe that there is light at then end of the tunnel and we shall replicate to celebrate similar success soonest INSHA ALLAH.
On a final note, we are going to continually work as a pro students body to defend the right of our members to exercise their constitutionally provided fundamental right to freedom of association and guarantee zero derogation to their academic welfare without any fear of the oppressors.
